About
Meet Max Leven
A little simplicity and a lot of heart…..
There’s something about pottery that not only draws people to it that are genuinely kind, but that brings out the kindness in people. I began making pots as a therapeutic exercise after making a pair of espresso cups for my wife, and within 6 months I was a full time potter.
But the studio is open to everyone. You don't need experience. You don't need to be good at anything. You don’t even need to come regularly. You just need to show up.
On the work for sale
At Max Leven Pottery, we believe in the quiet beauty of handmade things.
Each piece is crafted slowly by hand, with care for every curve, every glaze, and every imperfection that makes it unique.
Rooted in tradition but shaped for modern living, our ceramics are designed to bring a sense of calm, character, and connection to your everyday rituals — whether it's morning coffee, a shared meal, or a thoughtful gift.
We work in small batches, using sustainable practices and timeless designs that honour both the craft and the planet. No rush, no mass production — just simple, enduring pieces to be used and loved for years to come.
Thank you for choosing to support independent British craftsmanship. I hope you find something here that feels like home.

The Studio
The studio is a working space — not a showroom, not a gallery. It's full of work in progress, reclaimed clay, tools and people in various stages of figuring things out.
We've got five wheels, four hand-building benches, a glazing room, and a 350L kilns that fires regularly. There's always something on the shelves waiting to be collected.
Members get their own shelf space. There's a kettle. It's a good place to spend an afternoon.
